My work is focused on understanding the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while working to develop understanding of beliefs and values on which behaviors are centered. The foundation of self-understanding supports change and motivation for growth. Within everything I do is a central goal of helping my clients to live fuller and happier lives through insight, growth, and connection to others. I have specialized experience and training to support care for trauma. I have advanced education in the health science of addiction treatment. In my practice, I have provided addiction and mental health counseling services to highly diverse clientele, including services for concerns ranging from situational difficulties to chronic mental health. I work as the agent of my client, and center therapy on my client’s goals. I will be accountable to you. I will support you without judgment. I will challenge you respectfully and kindly for growth and strength. I ground my interventions in evidenced-based practice and theory. My practice welcomes all faiths, all ethnicities, and is LGBTQIA+  safe.

Helping people live a full and meaningful life is important to me, it’s why I became a social worker. I have been helping clients identify and learn life skills and navigate the mental health field for over 10 years. I am now using my own life experiences as a mom, a teacher, community volunteer, case manager, community-based rehabilitation worker, peer support specialist and program manager to be a mental health counselor. Our society is experiencing an increase of events that are triggering mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, anger, fear, and hopelessness. These feelings impact not only our family relationships but our work and social connections and our spiritual activities as well, really every area of our lives. No matter where you are in your life journey, a caring and experienced counselor can assist in achieving your goals of living a healthy fulfilling life. Together we will accomplish the necessary steps for your healing and happiness.

"Often when you think you're at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else." There are way too many good quotes from Mr Rogers. He certainly had a way with words and valuable insight that he was fortunately able to share with the world for quite some time. I want to help others to find and understand their own strengths that they may use when they are faced with struggles. Whether you are young or old, experienced or not, you have a strength and sometimes we need a little help finding it. You can visit my website and click "Book Now" which will take you to view my availability as well. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families. I truly believe that we can and should move forward with what we are currently working with. Strength can come from within; and sometimes that strength is found during our most difficult times. A few areas that I am more passionate about include relationship improvement, infertility issues, domestic abuse/violence, and anxiety/depression. I have been in the mental health and social services field for over 15 years and feel that my introverted extrovert personality is helpful in relating to others.

I believe as a therapist that my greatest value to my clients is the ability to tell their story and make the ongoing chapters more in line with what they would like for the future.  We cannot change the parts of our stories that we did not have control over, but I believe we can learn the skills and ways to see new chapters in the days and months and years to come.

I have worked in a variety of counseling roles, but I am drawn to kids and adolescents and families and I value the role of the individual as part of a family.  I work best with clients who are motivated to change what they can; however I also hold space for the parts they are still struggling to heal.  I have specialized training in trauma and have learned powerful tools to help people cope with traumatic events that still cause them troubling sensations, feelings, and images.
